Routine Piano Tuning is a Necessity!

Tuning your piano will not only make the piano sound better, it will also help to keep your piano in good condition so that you can enjoy it for many years to come. Pianos are made of organic materials, mostly wood, metal, and felt. These materials are extremely sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature which will cause a piano to go out of tune rapidly. Left unserviced for long periods, the piano can become difficult to tune and even unplayable. The best way to avoid this is to maintain the piano's environment at a constant temperature and humidity and have a piano technician regularly service your piano. You have invested a great deal of money in your piano and routine piano tuning and service will help maintain it's value.

How often should my piano be tuned?

The answer varies from piano to piano. If you play your piano regularly or have a more sensitive ear, it is recommeded that you have your piano tuned more often than the casual piano player. As mentioned above, if you can maintain the piano's environment at a steady temperature and humidity the piano will stay in tune longer and wil have less mechanical issues. Of course this is not always possible here in Ocala, so it is usually recommended that you have your piano tuned at least twice per year, after a change in season, or when it sounds like it needs it! Most piano players "know" when it's "time".
